Abstract

Background

Healthy interpersonal relationships and a positive self-perception are greatly aided by secure attachment, which is formed through consistent and nurturing interactions with attachment figures during childhood. This study reviewed existing literature on the influence of secure attachment in early childhood on later psychological assessment conception.

Method

The research employed a comprehensive literature review approach, examining previous studies on the influence of childhood attachment security on later psychological development and its implications for psychological assessment in adulthood.

Findings/Results

The review revealed that secure attachment in early childhood has a significant positive influence on later psychological conception. It enhances the development of essential psychological attributes such as self-concept and self-esteem in adulthood. The study also identified gaps in the existing literature concerning how childhood attachment security directly affects later-life psychological assessment outcomes.

Conclusion

The study concluded that the quality of parenting profoundly influences an individual’s ability to cope with future challenges and plays a crucial role in emotional and affective evaluation. This relationship fosters optimal self-assessment characterized by self-acceptance, self-respect, and self-appreciation, which collectively contribute to effective cognitive self-description.

Recommendations

It is recommended that parents and caregivers create an enabling environment for children during early childhood—one characterized by good parental care, positive attachment, and affectionate parent–child relationships—as these experiences have lasting positive implications for later psychological development and assessment conception
