Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution 4IR is an important aspect of the technological advancement era that transformed libraries through organizational culture. Most academic libraries especially in developing countries still struggle to design and implement a workable organizational culture that is compatible with the 4IR era. This study delves into how organizational culture can transform libraries in the 4IR era. A Survey research method was adopted. A total number of 84 available respondents were administered the questionnaire out of the total population of 112 library staff from the two selected Universities Abia State University Uturur and the Federal University of Agriculture Umudike that were used for the study. A Structured questionnaire was used to gather data directly from the respondents and was used for analysis. The study revealed that 4IR has enhanced organizational culture especially through innovation and excellent performance among the Librarians. Findings also show that there were several challenges confronting the 4IR as it relates to organizational culture and Libraries. Chief among them is the skills and technical mismatch. The study concluded that imbibing the complexities associated with 4IR era would significantly influence the organizational culture traits that would usher in innovation and new service operations as well as excellent performance of libraries and among the Librarians
